James Krystalla Foundation
DONATION WEBSITE
Following the massive success of their inaugural fundraising event, I partnered with the James Krystalla Foundation to transition their viral community momentum into a permanent, year-round digital home. I designed a professional web ecosystem that beautifully catalogs past impact, establishes deep organizational credibility, and simplifies secure charitable giving to fund continuous healing for kids in hospitals.
The Creative Challenge
Launching a digital space for a foundation after a highly successful initial event comes with the unique pressure of matching the massive scale of their real-world momentum.
While the client provided an incredible foundation of event photography and hospital impact photos, my challenge was to fill in the copywriting gaps and weave these raw pieces into a unified story.
I needed to strike a deliberate, delicate balance: crafting an environment that felt deeply heartwarming and kid-friendly to honor the mission, while remaining sophisticated and corporate enough to establish immediate trust with high-value sponsors and global donors online.
The Visual Direction
Because the foundation already possessed a core logo, I reverse-engineered the entire visual direction by carefully interpreting the tone and weights of the existing asset.
To communicate trust, transparency, and warmth, I extrapolated a commanding, institutional navy primary background balanced with secondary slate blue cards to organize heavy text sections cleanly.
To provide a deliberate spark of hope and energy that mirrors their mission, I used the vibrant marigold orange from the logo as a highly intentional accent color, driving the eye directly to critical action points like interactive buttons, headline underlines, and highlighted impact metrics.
Website Design & Build
Since the foundation did not have a dedicated writer, I stepped in to architect and author the majority of the website's narrative copy, ensuring their story resonated with empathy while maintaining a polished, professional edge.
I structured the user experience into an intuitive directory: an impactful homepage to request donations year-round, a dedicated events portal to drive ticket sales for their upcoming annual golf outing, and an immersive "Our Story" timeline that cleanly tracks their journey and board of directors.
To make the interface engaging and deeply human, I configured Squarespace’s advanced animation features to create smooth, scroll-driven fade-ins and subtle content movements, bringing their event photos, corporate sponsor blocks, and giving modules dynamically to life as users explore their mission.
